I rarely write reviews, however I feel compelled to warn others. Parents, please proceed with caution. My experience with Dr. Mitchell Austin was deeply concerning and I do not believe my child’s safety or best interests were prioritized. During my 3 month old’s exam, he handled her very roughly. At one point, he physically pinned her down on the exam table while holding scissors OPEN in her mouth, without explaining what he was doing or why. When I attempted to ask questions, he did not take the time to address my concerns and instead stood in the doorway appearing ready to leave the room. He recommended general anesthesia for treatment of a tongue tie—a significant intervention for an infant—but refused to explain the risks and benefits. His responses were dismissive and vague, stating
We had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Dr. Mitchell Austin during our recent visit to have our daughter checked for a possible lip tie and concerns about her middle ears. From the moment he walked into the room, he was rushing and showed very little interest or care. He didn’t ask why we were there, nor did he read the notes that the nurse had taken prior to his arrival — which clearly stated our concerns. We wanted to have our daughter evaluated for a lip tie, as recommended by her Primary Care provider, who referred us to this care center specifically for that reason. However, Dr. Austin immediately brushed us off, saying, “We don’t do lip ties.” When I explained our referral and asked if he could recommend another provider or specialist, his response was a curt, “N
I never write reviews. I took my 7 week baby to see Dr. Mitchell Austin yesterday. He was in the room for 2 minutes, dismissed what I had to say about my baby, and showed no compassion or interest. The nurse who was with him told me that she would send baby Tylenol for my son, which was never done. I’m a new mom so I didn’t think about getting it OTC. My baby was in so much pain from them assessing his tongue, he couldn’t feed and was crying. After calling the office and being told they don’t send prescriptions for Tylenol because it’s OTC, I went and bought some, hours after we left the office. There needs to be communication! If I had known my baby would be in pain, I would have premeditated him with the Tylenol or had some on me. My regret is not advocating for my baby, but I didn’t kno
I reached out to this office to schedule an appointment for my 9-month-old, who needs to have his adenoids removed as soon as possible. Most ENTs in Orlando are booking 2-3 months out, so I spent a lot of time calling around to find the earliest available appointment. When I called this office, I spoke with Chris, who was extremely helpful. Although we couldn't schedule the appointment on the first call because they didn't have the referral yet, Chris kindly told me he would keep an eye out for it and encouraged me to follow up with him anytime. He truly went above and beyond, and I was incredibly grateful. Out of all the offices I contacted, no one seemed to care as much as Chris, which I appreciated immensely. At that point, I knew that even if the appointment was two months away, this w
In office appointment went well, staff was friendly and courteous. Now, day of surgery, asked to be at the hospital at 7am, arrived at 630am, and have now waited 4.5 hrs in a waiting room with a scared, hungry, and thirsty little girl with no explanation. Now have been in preop for an hour waiting more. Would think they would be more courteous to the children and families knowing this isn't where they want to be.
