Allegria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Of Port Jefferson

I am the Executive Director of a local Assisted Living and am licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator. I have 10 years of experience working in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and most recently New York (Long Island). I can say with confidence that Allegria is by far the best option in the area for rehabilitation services and endorse their services so strongly I would trust them to care for my own parents. Their community is clean and the staff are incredibly kind. As I experienced on numerous occasions, the residents have clear goals established for receiving therapy services and updates are regularly communicated to their families. I wish I could give this facility 10 stars. This facility saved my mom life. The staff isn’t just staff. They actually make you feel like they are your extended family to your love ones. They go above and beyond. The Directors are very much involved in the care process from beginning to end and easily accessible. The nursing staff and the aides are competent and thorough in what they do and personable. The entire rehab staff are consistent and strive for you to actually get better and are attentive to your concerns. I would like to personally thank all the Directors and Supervisors , Paulette, Simone, Samantha, Sinaya, Louise, Amira, Dequana and too many others to name for taking care of my mom and getting her stronger during her stay.. My mother lived at Allegria Nursing Home for five years as a long-term care resident. The care was excellent, even as her condition declined. The staff and nurses were extremely responsive, medications were always given correctly and on time, and we were promptly notified of any changes. Communication was consistently good, and the compassion and professionalism of the staff gave our family great peace of mind. We highly recommend Allegria Nursing Home for long-term care.

I visited a friend at Alegria and I will be returning. It seems the staff is upbeat and attentive to the needs of my friend. She did not wait long after using the call button. Her room assignment has a nice view with a bird feeder outside the window. This is what she needs to help keep a positive attitude. My hope is that her pain can be kept controlled so she can get back to more activities.

IMPORTANT: Allegria received a ONE out of 5-star rating on Medicare.gov as of Nov 2025. That's a 'much below average' rating according to Medicare. Do you homework before taking your loved ones to this place! My mother stayed at Allegria in November 2025 for 17 days after gall bladder surgery. During her stay, the staff on duty failed to give her the medication prescribed by her GI doctor despite repeated attempts on our part to make sure it would be administered to her at rehab. (Even the GI office said that getting in touch with Allegria's nursing staff was "a problem"). Even worse, Allegria failed to deliver my mom to her post-op follow up visit at South Shore University Hospital about 45 min away, causing her to miss her appointment, which delayed her discharge and forced her to stay
