Cleveland Clinic - Avon Hospital at Richard E. Jacobs Campus Emergency Department

I am writing to formally express my distress regarding the conditions at the Avon Emergency Department. Upon arrival, I found a waiting room exceeding 50 people, with patients receiving IV treatments in public view due to a lack of private rooms. When I requested a status update on my care, I was denied any information. As a patient in significant pain, I find the lack of transparency and the disregard for patient privacy unacceptable. Had the facility communicated the true capacity constraints, I would have sought care elsewhere. This level of service is a failure of patient rights and basic care standards.

The staff is kind and efficient. The wait here is usually longer than other emergency rooms. But at least I feel safe. I'm not worried that a homeless person knife/fist fight is gonna break out at any moment.

Used to be my favorite place. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. Came in at 9pm it's now 4:06am, and no one is here. Nurses aren't answering calls. Doctor Hannah was supposed to "be right there!" Over 45 minutes ago.

Unfortunately despite the fact that the beginning of my time here everyone I saw were friendly, kind, patient and explained everything to me, the shift that came in next though made me actually cry with how rude they were to me. So the hospital as a whole gets a bad review. If you don't have rooms, you CAN turn people away or tell them ahead of time they will probably be placed in a hallway with absolutely NO privacy and give them the choice. I was sent here from express care because they couldn't help me and it is 5 hours after being checked out that I STILL don't have answers. I did not want to come. I'm tired and just want to feel better.

I came in with a life threatening abscess in my jaw. Face swollen and in need of dire care then and there. Without an X-ray. Without any tests. Was told I’m fine and that the doctor when she came to see me said “the bad news is I’m not a dentist” as I’m scared that I’m dying. I will NEVER return here and I will be personally pursuing the removal of this doctor. I had gone to a separate location after I was released and was treated with proper care. I had surgery done in me immediately to remove the infection and I am now on bed rest with medications to fight any more possible infection and for pain. Please. For the sake of your life and your time. Do NOT come here.
