Concussion Care at Brown Medical Group Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Trying to get an appointment here is a nightmare. My first time being referred in September, I called to check on status of appointment after a week and was told they hadn’t received a referral for me although my PCP had sent it. The following day I called back and was told they actually did have it but didn’t have any appointments until the end of November. Because I was dealing with acute concussion symptoms, I sought treatment with PT rather than wait. I was re-referred to this clinic in December due to cognitive issues my PT didn’t feel were progressing. I called after a week again and was told that they had the referral and were just waiting for the doctor to review it, and someone should be calling me by the end of the week. Have been 100% nothing but completely disappointed with this practice. I have been trying to get an appointment for over a year....A YEAR! Must've left a dozen messages in the time frame and only been called back once to tell my my original referral expired and to get a new one. I got a new one and now they will not call me back. Granted I'm not persistent as my memory is laughably bad so there are large gaps between messages but letting ANY obviously in need patient who leaves any messages go flat out ignored for 15-16 months is beyond unprofessional. If you become a patient here please let me know what you think of their care.

My daughter has received excellent care here for a concussion. We went to several docs before seeing Dr. Smith and he shared lots of information that no one else had. I'll forever be grateful to him for his help is healing my child’s brain.
