InterMed Pediatrics at Yarmouth

This review isn't for Intermed specifically but for a doctor, although I question some of the doctors they hire and the one time rule of switching primary care providers, "for best quality of patient care". So it's difficult to find a doctor that will be the best for you but it's in your best interest some how. If you value your health do NOT see Dr. McElhinney! Absolutely not worth the risk to your life!

For context, we were there for my teenage daughter’s blood draw. She is notoriously a very difficult stick. All three phlebotomists put aside what they were doing to come over and work on her as a team. They treated her so carefully, with so much dignity and respect, they were kind and gentle, and never once did they make her feel like she was a burden or wasting their time. They are the epitome of what medical professionals should be. I thanked them that day, but I would love for them to be thanked again by the company. They really went above and beyond and made my daughter, who’s had literally a lifetime of medical trauma, feel safe and cared for.

Leaving us a long voicemail threatening to send out someone for a welfare check after YOU called to cancel/reschedule routine appointments THREE times. Not once, not twice, but THREE because Dr. Swandal had something come up. We have been struggling with our son's constipation and tummy issues, and have received zero support since he was mere months old. Watching him scream in pain and have his pediatrician say "give him prune juice" over and over, but not attempt to get to the root cause was enough for us on top of her suggesting a dose of Tylenol for him that was way over what his little body could take (we had to call back to another nurse because we felt like the suggested dose was way too high and she confirmed that was double what his body should be having). He was last seen at 8 m

The staff at this location are unmatched, exceptionally kind and always going above and beyond! From the admin to the providers, I was always treated warmly and spoken to respectfully. Follow ups to phone calls and portal messages were always prompt and thorough. I highly recommend Dr. Swandal. As a nervous first time mom, she was patient, understanding, and reassuring. My son was comfortable around her as a one week old and beyond. Her bedside manner is phenomenal, you can tell she is truly passionate about her profession.

Intermed pediatrics has been by far the worst healthcare experience I've ever had. Incredibly long wait times on the phone for any and every call-including over an hour on hold on a call back from the office (more than once!). I've had appointments cancelled last minute by the provider, appointments I previously cancelled, not actually cancelled. I've had appointment cards and reminders from them with the wrong address- Nothing like taking your four year old kicking and screaming to a shot appointment in South Portland, only to be told upon arrival that whoops, our mistake, the appt was actually in Yarmouth and will now have to be rescheduled (appt card AND text reminder from Intermed both stated South Portland). But what really takes the cake is how this practice handled my 12 month old's
