Last summer, in the middle of the night, I woke with tingling, itching and burning on the palms of both hands. The rash quickly spread to the rest of my body and my husband insisted I call 911 for an ambulance. The ER at MV Hospital was busy that night and I was there for four hours before a doctor was able to see me. The rash never became anaphylactic and I was discharged without having to be treated. During admission I told both the triage nurse and again my attending nurse that I wanted to be tested for Alpha gal as two summers in a row I was unfortunate enough to have gotten into a hatch of tiny lonestar ticks. As I was walking out after being discharged I said to the doctor, someone I’d never seen there before, that I was surprised I didn’t test positive for Alpha gal and she told me

I recently visited MV Hospital after experiencing sudden chest pain, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff moved quickly, treated me with care, and kept me informed every step of the way. The nurses were incredibly kind and attentive, checking on me often and explaining what each test and procedure meant. The doctors were professional, thorough, and reassuring — I truly felt I was in expert hands. The facility itself was clean, organized, and calm. Thankfully, everything turned out fine, but I left feeling very grateful for the quality of care I received. I highly recommend MV Hospital to anyone needing emergency care. They turned a scary situation into one where I felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for.

It's really a shame - and I have seen this across many industries. The *people* at this hospital are amazing - nurses, doctors, everyone. But the systems (aka management) put in place are horrific. Want to see your doctor? Good luck. Need a prescription refilled? Good luck. True story: frustrated by the labyrinthine phone system I actually went to my doctor's office - I could *see* him walking back and forth behind the reception desk - and I was told to go home and use the internet or phone to make an appointment - it was impossible for them to do so. I did that and was transferred into the interminable phone system and no dice. Yes, it's that bad. Healthcare in America is a disaster - we all know that - and Martha's Vineyard Hospital has the proud distinction of being at the forefront of

The doctors, nurses and staff were wonderful when I came into the emergency room while on vacation. They quickly diagnosed my problem and started immediate treatment. After a 3 day stay in the Hospital, they were able to stabilize my condition so much so that I could leave. I have only wonderful things to say about my care while I was there. Daytime and nighttime nurses were fantastic in the ICU unit. Thank you to all of the health care professionals who made a difference in my treatment. I will always remember the great care I received there.

I have been to this hospital many times in 40 years, and always received great care: torn muscles, ruptured Achilles tendon, appendectomy, tick bites, covid. Many people on this site complained of long waits in the ER, and I'm sure they are telling the truth. That's what happens in ERs; its called triage. When you're in an ER and its not an emergency, you wait. Today I walked in w flu-like symptoms and the ER was empty. They carefully reviewed my files, ran lots of relevant tests, and discussed their decision making process. They couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Thank you! For those who criticized, when was the last time your were in a Harvard-affilliated ER? And how long did you wait? And how many times were you asked the same questions on admission, then by the nurse, stude
