Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center Emergency Room

Do not take your children here!! I took my daughter in and they completely dismissed my concerns for her and told me to go to her primary care the next business day! Turns out my mom instinct was correct and she indeed had a severe abscess that was infected! They don’t take things seriously and that’s a bad thing when you’re an ER!

Took my 13mo to the ER this morning due to distressed breathing from Covid. Stephen Gradwohl was the doctor who saw my child and did not lay a finger on my child to check his retractions or heart rate. We proceeded to be sent home and told not to worry. For the next 4 hours my child averaged well above 60bpm so our PCP recommended we take him into Vanderbilt’s children’s ER and thank goodness we did. Vanderbilt gave us the best service and did a full check up. We are now on our way home with a much happier & healthier baby. Needless to say, we will not be back to Williamson’s ER.

We had an emergency trip to the ER for stridor at rest in my 5 year old. The entire staff was incredible. We were seen within 5 minutes of arrival and Dr. Ayers was amazing. I’m a local PA and was so impressed with the entire experience. Would recommend this ER for my own patients any day!

Front desk lady was nice and kind. The lady nurse that took us to the room was very kind. The doctor that saw, she was great and squashed my fears of over the rash covering my son’s back. The last nurse that brought in the medicine for my son had a horrible bedside manner. My son greeted him several times when he came in but he ignored him. The hand held to scan my bracelet wouldn’t work so he preceded to say “for Christ sake” over and over again. Once he got the bracelet to scan he shoved the surgery of medicine in my hand and left. He has a head of white and grey hair plus a mustache and I think he was wearing grey scrubs. Other than the last guy everyone else was great.

No one ever wants to bring their children to the emergency room. However, this facility and the staff made our experience so much better. They met all of my expectations in such a timely manner, and it was clear to see the staff truly care for their patients. My son has, unfortunately, been battling an infection since June. It has gotten worse, even on different treatment plans. Monroe Carell Jr. Emergency Department did the whole work up and finally got answers as to what is going on and helped start a new treatment plan specific to his needs. My son is very anxious and has sensory processing disorder, which makes going to any doctor a challenge, but it was a breeze - even with pokes and testing.
