I want to commend the entire medical team at Penn Gastroenterology at Pennsylvania Hospital. They were amazing—professional, friendly, and very supportive throughout my procedure. The level of care provided by the staff was truly exceptional. However, the state of the facility itself was shocking and completely undermined my trust. My recovery room and the bathrooms i had to use to collect samples were absolutely horrendous. There was visible debris in the room and the bathroom floors were caked with dirt. For a medical facility, the expectation isn't just to be clean; it should sparkle. What makes this especially unacceptable is the financial reality of the institution. Penn Medicine, a part of the University of Pennsylvania, is a non-profit with a staggering endowment of over $22 bill

Um? Not sure why the google rating here is so low. They give fabulous care!!! They are also incredibly busy because of how good they are, so it is very hard to get an appointment. I could see a 4 star because you often need to be put on a waitlist to get an appointment. Twice in 3ish (?) years I’ve been a month or two late to get in to see her. The person who is in charge of structuring scheduling definitely sucks at organizing it effectively. But 1 star seems a bit excessive for such a small issue. This practice, specifically Dr. Rashid, saved my quality of life with prescriptions and supplement changes. She also eased my mind about my cancer risk from chronic illness by doing a couple procedures to check things out. For the first time in almost a decade, I can eat and use the bathroom

Insane they limit access for PPO patients and require a referral from a doctor when the patient can state symtoms needed for an appointment. Even worse for Penn employees paying extra for the PPO access, having to see a primary negates paying for a PPO. This speciality seems to be prime for Penn to have indentified a loophole to extract as much as they can from patient's resources and time. Will probably look to schedule all appointments for all specialities outside of Penn. What a violation of access and frightening standard for one of the city's largest providers.

Had post operative numbness and pain in pelvic region. When I cslled I did not get to speak to Doctor that performed colonoscopy. PA was dismissive of my concerns and said had nothing to do with procedure. Would not recommend this practice

Not enough staff on phones. I had to cancel a procedure due to sudden loss of transportation and was on hold for over 45 minutes before giving up, and it couldn't be cancelled through MyChart. Basically forced to no-show because of this despite attempting to cancel through the appropriate channels, because by the time someone would have picked up it would be past appointment time. Was off my meds for a month preparing for this procedure because I had to reschedule previously.
