My teen was there for 16 days. We went over safety plan and everything before her coming home. Dr was trying to regulate her meds. First week she came home she was gold... and everything fell down hill from there. Back to the same behaviors. As for the staff, when dropping my daughter off some staff were definitely unprofessional. Young and immature. I would call to check on my daughter they sounded disorganized. I never was able to check out the unit she was on. They just wheeled her back and I talked to one of the staff for a bit, went through her clothes and signed some documents and took the hour and a half trip back home. In the mist of her discharge they had lost my daughter's shoes. She had to walk out of facility in the socks they gave her on the unit. I had tried for almost 2 wee
Unit was filthy. Staff stole my teens belongings that were taken during admission, including underwear, bras, art supplies, Apple Earbuds and her backpack.
For this experience, if I could give less than one star I would. Unfortunately this was not our first experience at Sheppard Pratt but it was the first time my daughter was on the Adolescent Female Crisis unit. From intake to discharge the overall experience was subpar. Staff were not courteous or informative. The doctor prescribed my daughter new medication without discussing with me prior, there was hardly any communication during her stay with other medical staff. The discharge plan was not clear nor helpful to address my daughter's needs. This was the worst experience we've had thus far dealing with Sheppard Pratt
‘twas okay. lots of screaming from other girls; there was a lot of hostility but altogether the experience was enlightening. However there will forever be certain images I will have stuck in my mind; I watched a girl get tied down to a board, whenever I hear yelling it reminds me of Sheppard Pratt. I liked my stay there, it helped me, but never again.
I just wish the intake was more forthcoming with what to expect when you are in the facility
