University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge Emergency Room

On February 24, 2026, I experienced severe respiratory distress and lost consciousness before arriving at the hospital. I don’t remember everything that happened, but I do know this: I woke up alive. I was treated with dignity, respect, and genuine care by both Dorchester EMS and the team at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center. Every staff member I encountered from the Doctors, nurses and technicians, they treated me as a person, not just a patient. They explained what happened & what was happening, monitored me closely, and made sure I was safe during my treatment. When you wake up after something like that, you realize how much you depend on the professionalism and compassion of others around you. On September 1, 2025 my visit to the emergency room Cambridge Maryland was excellent. I arrived with a severe reaction with welts from head to toe. Was taken back immediately. Dr Hines was my doctor and he went above and beyond to take care of me. He figured out what I was allergic to quickly and administered the medication needed for the severe hives I had especially the ones on my face. I was very scared. I did follow up with my primary Dr the next day and was told I was going into anaphylactic shock. He’s an excellent doctor and an asset to the emergency room. Besides his quick action to help me his compassion was over the top. It’s rare to find that in an emergency room. He gets a 10 star review from me and I personally thank him. If you are experiencing a true emergency, I would not recommend this freestanding ER. The staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and lacked basic knowledge. The level of care and respect provided was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring issue in the Eastern Shore area. I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere if you want to be treated with professionalism and concern.

I was seen rather quickly and the staff was wonderful; very caring and right on point. The doctor was extremely knowledgeable and was quite thorough...he ran several tests, but didn't overtest. His diagnosis was spot on.

Currently waiting 6+ hours for my daughter to get roughly 4 stitches on her chin really ridiculous apparently only one doctor and no registered nurses at all on night shift. We arrive to the ER at 7 PM and we’re seen by a doctor around 10:30pm. My daughter was administered lidocaine for her chin around 10:30pm 30 p.m. and it is now 12:33 am and she has yet to be seen or stitched up. So if you have any emergency, do not come to this emergency room between the hours of 7 and 10 PM because you will not be seen by a doctor
