I the particular misfortune to have been born with an incompetent mitral valve. There must be some cardiogenetic confound attached to some homeobox gene(s) that are involved in the regulation of the pattern of mitral valve development that . . . (?). I had the particularly good fortune to have worked at NYU where there was a proper genius with surgical interventions re: such anomalies of heart development, a Dr. Stephen B. Colvin, (1943-2008). I harbor a certain reluctance to see doctors, as I have been mis-diagnosed; in one case due to perfidy committed by many senior infectious disease doctors in the setting a tickborne diseases.
