I had an interesting experience with Dr. Yoon. I was in the preparation room prepared for surgery. Dr. Yoon came to me and asked how I was feeling. I said that I was scared. Aren’t most people a few minutes before being taken to the OR? To my surprise, Dr. Yoon said that if I wasn’t 100 percent confident, he would cancel the surgery. At first I thought he was joking, but one look at his face told me he was serious. He held up his cell phone, and gave me a few seconds to decide whether or not I had 100 percent confidence in him. I said that he should do the surgery, but he insisted on statement of 100 percent confidence and with a few seconds to decide. So I said that I couldn’t say that. Dr. Yoon was very knowledgeable and honest about my medical situation. He informed me of every potential risk. He is meticulous about his work, and his bedside manner is the best I’ve ever seen. I trust him completely, so much so that he did my second surgery as well! Top notch I refer him to everyone I know who needs any type of spinal surgery! Love him!!!

Dr. Yoon is a wonderful doctor! Great bedside manner, very kind, and caring. I felt confident with him after my first visit. He explained everything so well, and answered all of my questions and concerns. My surgery couldn’t have gone any better and I am so happy with the results! I’ve had chronic neck pain for over 15 years and although I’m not completely pain free (still healing) I already feel SO much better and it’s only been a couple of weeks. I’m blown away with how amazing my incision looks! I can’t thank Dr. Yoon enough! I absolutely recommend him to anyone that is looking for an amazing neurosurgeon! Thank you again!!!

Visited this doctor for a consult after going to the emergency room for numbness in the saddle region. Yoon had no bedside manner whatsoever. He looked at my MRI for all of 5 seconds. He continued to type and didn't make any eye contact with me. He told me that I didn't need surgery and that I should get an injection and continue physical therapy. I knew that something was not right and I sought out another surgeon who immediately caught the fact that the large herniation on my back was calcified - meaning that bone grew around the disk herniation. There was no point of regression. We had scheduled surgery for May. However, my condition progressed quickly and I needed emergency surgery from the surgeon (who was absolutely amazing). Dr. Yoon and his team at Penn were excellent! He has a great calm bedside manner and is very caring. He was honest about expectations from the first consultation appointment to the post surgery follow up. He got me in quickly for surgery and the results have been fantastic! I am quickly getting back to activities and now I am pain free! I would highly recommend him. I am so thankful for him and his team for their hard work.
