Weatherby Pavilion

My mother spent over a month at the Weatherby Pavilion while she was waiting for placement in a care facility. In that time, her strength and mobility declined from being able to sit up and turn in bed to being immobile and requiring complete assistance to move. When she arrived at the care home her teeth looking as though they had not been brushed at all, because they were completely caked with tartar. Apparently the care attendants couldn't even have bothered to hand her the toothbrush so that she could do the job herself. Several of Mom's belongings went mysteriously "missing" between Weatherby and her new care home, including a Christmas gift I had sent and I don't know if she even received it. It's been a month of the front door not working and waiting for security to come open the bouncing doors. The management seems to think the doors will heal themselves. Security does not care cause they just manually pull open the left side panel which turns out to be an escape door on hinges... if only I'd known that weeks ago. Come every day to clean up after the care aids that just leave behind everything used or maybe to be used some day, bring food, laundry and remind next shift when medication is being missed. Nice people, mean well, consistently very clean place, unlike Surrey Hospital.

At first I thought this would be a good place for my mum with a broken ankle to receive care while she waited for the go ahead to put weight onto it. The incessant noise of the ringing/buzzing of patients waiting for nurse to show up for assistance would drive anyone crazy. The biggest complaint and concern was when my mother was left after soiling herself and not being cleaned for over 2 hours. The embarrassment of that is still engraved in her brain. Not only an uncomfortable situation but unsanitary and unsafe welcoming possible infection. I wish I wrote this earlier and had investigated this place sooner and looked for alternatives. Hello today's visit was great. Your staff was very knowledgeable and courteous and professional. I had a small personal injury that was taken care at home. It was recommended that waiting past 6 hours will not resolve it. Thanks anyways, Have a great day

This Pavilion opened in 1986, as a 150 bed facility. I have been inside many times and I must read all the little signs. "how to open doors & the directional signs", because Weatherby is open to the public, yet a secure building. There are staff to help you get into the elevators or just to get out of the building. Weatherby is part of the PAH Campus.
